Owner Drivers (Melbourne)

We welcome expressions of interest in our subcontract owner driver roles.  Here are some facts about what we do here at Swift Transport Services.

• Our drivers are a mix of drivers who work in our company owned fleet and also subcontract owner drivers, with vehicles ranging from 1 tonne vans and trays up to 14 tonne trays and tautliners.
• Our clients are Melbourne based and our deliveries are predominantly business to business.
• The goods we carry vary from tiny items like envelopes up to 14 tonne loads forked or craned on.
• Our drivers do a mixture of adhoc deliveries and permanent runs.
• The vast majority of our deliveries are completed between 6 am and 5 pm.
• The feedback from our drivers is that they love the variety, technology, our wonderful clients and our excellent experienced despatchers who work hard to provide them with excellent delivery runs.
• You will require an ABN, current license and insurance as an owner driver.

We have a huge emphasis on safety at Swift Transport Services.

Our drivers are subject to safety and conduct inductions, our despatchers also complete safety courses annually. When you sign up with Swift, you will be shown exactly how to comply with our safety standards (safety management plan) and those set out by the NHVL.  We will also provide you with details about Chain of Responsibility, Safe Loading/Unloading/Driving as well as other important information designed to keep you, our clients and the general public safe. All owner drivers are required before commencing with Swift Transport Services to understand the costs involved with being an Owner Driver.
